A new entry in the Lineage game series
Lineage 2M is a free role-playing game that was developed by NCSOFT for mobile devices. It is the latest entry in the popular Lineage series of MMORPGs. It features the same impressive range of character classes to choose from and offers an even more expanded open-world for players to explore.
Compared to Lineage W or Lineage 2: Revolution, Lineage 2M is easily the most visually appealing and graphically advanced yet. It retains the core aspects that fans loved about the previous games like extensive customization options and fast-paced PVP battles while making under-the-hood improvements to the overall gameplay experience.
How does it compare to previous releases?
When Lineage 2: Revolution was released back in 2017, it had a good reception from both reviews and players alike. It was praised for replicating the experience and gameplay of the original Lineage II game that it was based on to the mobile space, letting players grind and battle other players while on the go. Under a new developer, Lineage 2M attempts to build upon the success of its predecessor.
From the moment you first open Lineage 2M, it will be immediately apparent that it's a fresh and modern game based on its visuals alone. From the graphics to the animations and character design, everything screams quality. You still get the impressive level of customization and class specialization options here, as well as the hundreds of different weapons and gear you can equip your heroes with for battle.
What's more, the game features an even more vast open-world featuring an impressive and detailed design that lets thousands of players explore and interact simultaneously and in real-time. It still falls victim to the same pitfalls as its predecessor, though. Combat and missions get repetitive quickly, and the whole experience still heavily relies on pay-to-win (p2w) systems that require players to spend to gain any decent progress.
Surface-level improvements
In summary, Lineage 2M is a beautiful game through and through. However, the graphical improvements alone are not enough to hide the fact that at its core, it offers the same gameplay experience as its predecessor—faults and all. Add the fact that it is still very much a p2w title, and it's essentially the same game, just nicer to look at.
